Slow and Steady!

Its been quite a while since Luke managed to get a chance to work on his "NUT THING". Today he mounted the engine mount plates to the frame and trial fitted engine mounts. Removed engine and turned frame on table so as to be able to start building cabin and front end. Have also trial fitted the seats to get measurements etc . Slowly getting there!

Saturdays working day

So we have some more progress...
The uprights are in place and engine mounts have been positioned - Just have to have metal plates added where required to connect them to.
Also purchased front suspension and seats last weekend (pics to follow of seats)

The supervisor hard at work

Anna "supervising"

Its been a productive weekend!

Luke has been busy working on the engine frame for his car this weekend.
The top and bottom of the frame is tack welded together, other bars are clamped in place ready for welding and the brown tape is to give a rough idea of where some more bars need to be

Some photos...

The donor car: Magna Wagon 3.5ltr auto.

The engine, wiring loom, petrol tank and exhaust all set up on the ground for a test run before we had the shed sectioned off and new benches built.

Check out the suspension - Skyline hubs and carriers with Magna/skyline hybrid driveshafts. ;o)

Have also added some links in the link section on the side bar.

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog!

A few months ago Luke decided he needed another project......
So he is now building a car from scratch, along with his "supervisor" - wife - Anna!

It will have a mid mount engine, using the donor Magna engine and gearbox, Skyline suspension combined also with the Magna suspension and a custom made steel frame.

We look forward to sharing the ups and downs with you all of what will be a long but fun filled journey, the building of our home made car "NUT THING"

Cheers
Anna and Luke
